hey Reader,

you ever had one of those “a-ha” moments?

those moments where something just clicks in your head out of nowhere?

i had one of those yesterday as i was building a bed frame for my sister.

as i was finishing up, i realized how beautiful it is to build something.

whether it's something tangible (like a bed frame) or intangible (like, in my case, an online business)...

everything that needs to be built always starts out in pieces.

they're riding solo, doing their own thing, just waiting for someone to come along and connect them into one big piece.

i hope you're starting to see how those two could relate, but there's something that sets building a business apart from everything else.

with the bed frame, i had an instruction manual.

you don't really get one of those when you’re starting a business.

you have to fend for yourself; navigating through the internet, hunting for each piece of the puzzle.

it's certainly not easy, but it's what makes being a successful entrepreneur so rewarding.

because when you do succeed, you can soak in the fact that:

1) you were able to build something that's meaningful, and

2) you did it on your own, without following a path set by someone else.

sure, you can look for an instruction manual in the form of an online course or something, but in order to make the journey personal to you, you have to carve the path yourself.

using your own time, your own effort, and usually your own money.

but with enough time and effort and money, eventually you'll start to see things piece together.

things will start to click.

and you'll be able to step back and observe the work that you've done, the thing that you've built.

and it will be beautiful because it will be yours.

and you figured it out using your own hand-made instruction manual.

and as i fastened the last rod in place, i had this exact realization.

i thought about how only 30 minutes ago, this entire bed frame was just a bunch of pieces laying on the ground.

but all those pieces eventually came together and made one finished product.

(and it looked pretty freaking good if i do say so myself)

this was definitely a silly example, but hey, it sounded fire in my head.

anyways Reader, just remember—anything that is worthwhile will always take time and effort, and it's usually a while before you start to see results.

that's just how it works.

but the next time you feel discouraged, just think of your situation like a bed frame.

it may look like a bunch of random pieces right now, but things are coming together.

you just gotta keep building.

thanks for reading,

gabe
